1. This is called dark magneto-optical trap ( DMOT ). 2. This cooling scheme starts from atoms in a magneto-optical trap . 3. To reach the lowest possible temperature, further cooling is performed using optical trap . 4. Most optical traps operate with a Gaussian beam ( TEM 00 mode ) profile intensity. 5. A magneto-optical trap is usually the first step to achieving Bose Einstein condensation. 6. These beams, made using axicons, provide an ideal optical trap to channel cold atoms. 7. For this, a certain magneto-optical trap was devised comprising six lasers and two magnetic coils. 8. First atoms are usually trapped and pre-cooled via laser cooling in a magneto-optical trap . 9. All magneto-optical traps require at least one trapping laser plus any necessary repumper lasers ( see above ). 10. In this way, an optical trap can be compared to a simple spring, which follows Hooke's law.
